Why LeBron will be the greatest athlete to ever live and a six-time NBA champion? The Permanent Contrarian’s view on investing in alternative assets.

There will be some GOATs that won’t be considered GOATs in the next few years. That perception gap will likely greatly impact the value of their chase cards. It’s true marketability is part of the GOAT conversation, however, I see that as a force multiplier based on athletic performance that manifest into major achievements and records rather than just highlight reels or hype. If we are talking about the most misunderstood valuation in sporting history, we are living in it right now. LeBron is the absolute GOAT of all GOATs. LeBron realistically can play three to five years at a high-level. Most likely, he will get his five to six rights and 50,000 regular season points among other meaningful major records. A 40 year old Jordan is no where close to a 45 year old LeBron in terms of on the court performance at a high level.

Look at all sports that everyone actually care about. Name one sports figure that plays in one of the richest sports in the history of the universe that the people who are actually the richest and most powerful like the Americans that is better than LeBron? Brady you said? Unfortunately, many of his major records will likely be broken within two decades. There will always be talks about the different “gates,” “not playing in both sides,” “Belichick,” “a team called the Patriots winning in the 2001 season with a sixth rounder, second year quarterback” etc. Jordan you said? Jordan was a great player, so were Kareem, Russell, Chamberlain and Dr J. What made Jordan better than any of them especially Kareem who had the same championship and MVP totals but also had a longer career, was absolutely unstoppable for his sky hook shot and was the career points and rebound leader. Think about it. What significant records did Jordan break exactly?

Why LeBron will be the greatest athlete to ever live and a six-time NBA champion.

Yes, Jordan had a 30+ points per game average for his career. Unfortunately, this record probably won’t stay for long as superstar players are now getting buckets like crazy and regularly getting 30+ point seasons. Very few in Jordan’s era ever did that. If the four points get introduced, LeBron will likely still keep his 50,000 points record as let’s be honest four points will probably be near half court shots which even with today and the nutrition and conditioning programs in the next ten to twenty years won’t be easy to make and is probably a lower percentage shot. Jordan’s 30+ points per game career average probably will be easily broken within the next few decades. Jordan wasn’t the best dunker (too many legendary dunkers to name) and wasn’t the first one to do many of his dunk types (Dr J). Jordan didn’t hold the total points, rebounds, assist, blocks nor any other significant accumulated total records.

Jordan did have the most championships, didn’t have the most legendary college career, didn’t have the best high school career and so on. Personality and social responsibilities? No comment. Jordan also isn’t the first athlete nor the first NBA athlete to become a billionaire while playing like LeBron did becoming the first billionaire NBA player to become a billionaire while still playing in the NBA. Jordan also didn’t have to deal with the social media era while playing in the NBA like LeBron did. None of Jordan’s kids played in the NBA like LeBron’s kids did. LeBron not only will likely not only have his own last dance documentary/documentaries but may likely have major motion picture movies made about him. Jordan in three decades will probably go from the GOAT to a Mickey Mantle type of figure in baseball. He will remain extremely popular and his cards will worth a lot of money but ultimately, there will only be one Babe Ruth in NBA and that’s LeBron.

Mythical tales will be told about LeBron that are absolutely unbelievable but mostly true. Babe Ruth was great but many will argue he also “played against plumbers” in his era. No disrespect to Michael Phelps and the greatest athletes in other sports like cricket and soccer that Americans do not typically watch compared with the other major American sports. Many of the sports mentioned above also do not have a definitive GOAT. For example, we soccer has no unanimous GOAT right now no matter what Messi fans think. When you factor in the difficulty of playing on the both end of an extremely physical sport and being the greatest ever in that globally popular sport with around two billion fans and fast catching up with soccer and with the records and accolades to prove it, the global and social impact in the age of social media/AI/robots/space exploration, the career longevity, being a billionaire businessman raising kids at one is in the NBA now, you may come to realize why LeBron is the greatest athlete of all time in any sport in history. I also believe LeBron will be able to get his sixth championship matching Jordan’s total within the next five years. I personally have significantly decreased by Jordan collection and have been accumulating Bronny and LeBron base rookie cards for a while, many of these LeBron rookie cards only costed a few dollars each in volume purchases.
