Once the masked man, the author and K were vacuumed away by the current, the door closed. They spent the next few hours sliding in a dark, oxygen ample contouring water tunnel until they reached dry land. All three of them were exhausted beyond words and spent the next few hours lying on the ground listless. The next day, they realized the tunnel was likely man-made used to deliver water and transport people to the underground. After exploring the area and finding the exist to the cave, they were shocked to find out they are actually inside of the above sea level portion of an underwater ocean cave hundred or so miles from the mountain.
Since they still couldn’t find the monastery anywhere above water, they knew if the monastery actually existed, it most likely is beneath their feet. They agreed upon themselves to dive underwater and after a few minutes, they emerged from the water and into the above water portion of another underwater cave. Unlike the previous underground cave, this one was pitch black. When they were finally able to turn on their flashlights, in front of them was a gigantic stone carved monastery with ritual objects everywhere. The author took out the patriarch’s diary once more and read aloud its content.
It turned out, the patriarch of the family was the most generous patron of the monastery. He funded the renovation of the monastery after it was left in ruins for centuries. The only request the patriarch of the family made to the monastery was for the monastery to safe keep a certain object for him until his descendent come and retrieve it. As they entered the monastery, they felt a sudden gust of wind and monastery door closed. They forged ahead not knowing what the future holds.
