The New York Yankees defeat Dodgers/Brewers in the 2026 World Series and the meteoric rise of Ben Rice base rookie and chase cards? The Permanent Contrarian’s view on investing in alternative assets.

Dodgers and Rays are extremely injured. Brewers might be good but to win it all it probably need to get pass the Dodgers. If they do, it will be a pyrrhic victory due to the exhaustion. Yankees’ Rays issue has gotten much more optimistic with injuries Rays unfortunately have been dealing with. Yankees also have the biggest bats in the AL. Let’s face it, even their rotation players might be a so called washed up future hall of famer who gets 400 to 500 HRs in their career. Yankees most likely don’t need Judge until ALCS and probably can get by comfortably without him in that series. Unless someone wear a buzzer, which most likely won’t happen because the Yankees are the Yankees not some upcoming emerging power, the Yankees’ pitching and big bats will most likely take the NLCS. The Yankees literally got looted their entire farm to get to this roster setup, and frankly, it’s working. The Yankees pitching at this point is probably equivalent or better than the Dodgers.

Yankees are also not dealing with any major off-the-field issues. Ohtani is a force multiplier type of player. If he is not doing historically well, his team likely won’t either. From a probability standpoint, Yankees won 27 and Dodgers even including the Brooklyn era won 9. Yankees always believe they can win it all every year as they should be. Ben Rice base rookies are still relatively cheap but will most likely be relatively unaffordable if the Yankees continue to win and his performance continue to stand out. Aaron Judge is a historical player, but unfortunately, he will most likely end up being a glorified Mike Trout. He will be 35 by around the beginning of next season in April. Judge is older than Rice by seven years, that makes a huge difference. Sure, Rice at 27 is not young either from a baseball standpoint, however, he is likely the premier player on the Yankees for probably over a decade. If you know anything about the Yankees and baseball, you know that means something in many aspects including from a card value standpoint.

I believe Ben Rice will most likely sign a massive contract in 2031 or before for 10 plus years surpassing $400 million. People who sleep on Rice fail to understand the baseball era we are in and the state of the Yankees. The biggest superstars in the game will likely all be contractually locked up by the time Rice reach major arbitration in the around 2030. Yes, he is a bit older but if you look at Soto and Pujols’ contracts you will realize there is room for a superstar level player making 400 plus million in their early 40s. Salaries have gone up since then. The Yankees have a deep rotation in bats and pitching. They have five all-star pitchers and seven all-star position players on their roster now. Realistically no one in the AL playoffs can match the Yankees in all-star talents nor productivity. The Rays have not been doing well recently, their winning record against the Yankees is mostly due to consecutive wins in the beginning of the reason, the winning trend favor the Yankees in the later part of the reason.

The NL might be more talented as a whole, fortunately, Yankees only have to face one team from the NL in the playoffs. Either it’s the hobbled Dodgers or the hobbled by the Dodgers Brewers. By all accounts, it took a perfect storm for the Dodgers to win last year. The perfect storm is very unlikely to happen this year due to a much stronger Yankees team and a likely much weaker NLCS winning team. Yankees fans also travels well and likely less bandwagon than many other MLB fan bases which makes a huge difference in the playoffs. Ben Rice base rookie cards are still unbelievably affordable though it has increased significantly since a few months ago. With the Yankees deep in playoffs and surging Rice playoff performances, I anticipate a significant surge in Rice rookie cards within a few weeks.
