The Yankees should have been in the 2026 World Series. They had the best position players and probably the best pitching rotation. If it wasn’t for the manager who couldn’t coach and the minor league fielding errors and poor roster construction like letting Judge return before the playoffs when games were almost meaningless and aggravating his injuries causing him to not be in the playoffs, the Yankees were for sure going to beat everyone to win their first World Series in years. Instead, what we got is Brewers trouncing the Dodgers as predicted by yours truly. Don’t believe me regarding the 2026 rendition of the Rays. Just look at what the Guardians did to them in game 1. The Guardians literally had a worse regular season record than the Yankees in 2026. During this year’s playoff series, the Rays didn’t even get many runs in, all they did was make the Yankees play defense and they won the series. Of course when Grisham is a lead hitter when you got Judge and Dominguez playing and Stanton and Goldschmidt barely hitting in the series people may have questions about those decisions. Like I said before, the whole flight to GOAT cards are a joke. There is no such thing as a forever GOAT.
The bigger farce is most people lack the professional training and elite pedigree to determine the perceived GOAT by viewing an elite player’s attributes. Alternative assets at the current moment and likely for a long time will be very volatile. Have you not looked at the stock market and treasure yields? People can get very high returns just investing in the S&P 500 at about 13% YTD returns even before the Santa rally which could help get the 2026 S&P 500 to 15-18%. I hate to break the news to the newbies. There has never been rookie card speculation because speculation and expectation were already baked into any financial assets based on time value of money principles. The so-called rookie card speculation is basically just a variant of that principle. Have you seen the prices for rookie cards of old rookies? They are usually comparatively extremely cheap. Why is that? Probably because of expectations and potential difference kind of like in the money and out of the money concepts in options, no? Anyway, Ohtani is a foreign player on a team that is potentially going through some off the field stuff.

The real 2026 World Series matchup: Yankees vs. Brewers; Buy Rice and Bonds and sell Ohtani, Jordan and Brady chase cards now.

Ohtani’s reputation going forward may or may not be what it is now due to a variety of reasons I won’t specify here. Human beings all have emotions, moods and conditions which can change momentum. Ohtani is purportedly experiencing lingering sports related issues which considering his age, when his contract ends and his TJ surgery, I have low confidence he will become a GOAT at all. If Brewers crush the Dodges with a 4-0 or a 4-1 series win, Ohtani’s cards will probably experience a major shock. The Yankees will probably end up making management changes and right the ship. Their ship is filled with gold and allure, they just need a good captain. Ben Rice has the charisma, leadership and seems to live for the big moments. Judge is probably a second-in-command type based on a holistic set of factors. Yankees need to rebuild their farm system. They have plenty of power, they just need a bit more culture at this moment. Bonds at a few dollars for his rookie cards are a steal. Jordan will always be associated with Nike.
The Nike current situation is very fluid and Jordan probably didn’t pick the best time to finally fight for major social causes NASCAR or not. Brady is literally the weakest of the GOATs out of the three major sports. The baseball equivalent would be a Pete Rose, Shoeless Jackson or Jose Altuve. How much is a Pete Rose Charlie Hustle selling for now, you don’t need to even check, it’s like $30. The Chiefs will probably be Super Bowl contenders every year with high likelihood of winning their conference and meet the Ram or another super team in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for the Rams, the chemistry and the hype with Aaron Donald’s return didn’t really pan out well. Donald’s return probably hurt Ram’s chemistry and possibly exacerbated their potential lockeroom ego and character issues. Historically teams going 2-3 to start a season will likely not do too well during the season and for the next season. The Bills don’t have a history of winning Super Bowls, the 49ers are missing pieces and the Seahawks gave the Chiefs the player they needed. I think Mahomes will probably win 3 Super Bowls in the next eight years and will probably win another one to two more if he played football into his mid 40s like Brady did. I also believe LeBron will supersede Jordan as the GOAT within two decades after he retires.
